Heidi Helgeson, principal of H2D architecture + design, embarked on her artistic journey by immersing herself in the basics of painting, sculpture, photography, and color theory. After earning her BA in Studio Art, she set off around the world to experience art and architecture on site. Heidi continues to enjoy traveling around the world, photographing, and sketching on site. She draws inspiration from these travels for her architectural designs.
H2D focuses on integrating our natural environment into the built environment. Finding the connection between the indoors and outdoors is an essential piece of the design process, along with creating a minimal impact on our environment.
Attention to detail is one of the most important aspects of good design.Inspiration for our work is drawn from details that have caught my eye, for example, the repetition of patterns and colors, pine needles strewn by the wind in a raked rock garden, or the pattern of light and shadow on an ancient metal door.
H2D works closely with our clients to help create beautiful spaces suited to their specific needs, paying special attention to the way that they intend to use the space or simply to suit their unique style. Much inspiration for our work is drawn from observing the way that people interact with the space around them. Shape, size, volume, texture, light and shadow, and atmosphere create the mood and energy of a space.
