Ombu Salon + Spa Edmonds

Location: Downtown Edmonds, Washington

Design Goals: Fitting in with the charm of Edmonds, Ombu Salon + Spa relocated to a quaint residential-style home in downtown Edmonds. The salon and spa owner purchased the existing single-family home, already zoned for commercial use, with plans to fully remodel and transform it into a warm, welcoming destination for salon and spa services. The project involved a change-of-use conversion, turning the residence into a functional commercial space while retaining the intimate scale and character. A key component of the transformation includes a new addition that connects the original house to the detached garage, creating a cohesive layout that supports a variety of services. Collaborating closely with the owner, H2D reimagined the existing single-story house and detached garage as a cohesive, multi-functional salon and spa. The main floor, formerly the kitchen, living room, and bedrooms, was fully reconfigured into an open-plan layout featuring hair cutting stations, a shampoo and color area, retail space, plant wall, and spa treatment rooms. The connected garage now houses serene spa rooms, a bathroom, and a cozy client lounge—creating a harmonious blend of comfort, function, and charm.
