Snohomish Fire Rebuild
Location: Snohomish County, Washington
Design Goals: After a devastating fire resulted in the complete loss of their home, the homeowners came to H2D to design a custom home that would better meet their current needs while respecting the original home's footprint. The new 4,000 sf home will be built on the site of the previous structure, with a two-story layout maximizing space and functionality.
The main floor is designed as an expansive open-concept living area with the kitchen, dining, and living spaces into a light-filled environment. This level also includes a powder room, a guest suite, a walk-in pantry for added storage, and a dedicated home office—ideal for modern work-from-home lifestyles. Upstairs, the design features multiple bedrooms, each with en-suite bathrooms, as well as a spacious primary suite. Ample storage throughout the second floor supports the home’s organization. The vaulted great room below serves as a dramatic focal point, with an overlook from the upper floor that enhances the sense of openness and connectivity.
Style: Pacific Northwest Contemporary
Design Challenges + Site Constraints: The design of the rebuilt home was based on reusing the existing foundation, which remained intact and salvageable after the fire. Additionally, the home had to comply with the neighborhood HOA requirements, including exterior style, window size and placement, and the selection of exterior materials.
