Design Goals: This historic Edmonds home underwent a major addition and whole-home remodel designed to expand the living space while preserving the character and architectural integrity of the original residence. Listed on the Edmonds Historic Registry, the home required careful consideration of historic preservation requirements throughout the design and construction process. The new home addition was designed to complement the existing historic structure, creating a seamless, yet distinct, connection between the original home and the new spaces. Attention to scale, proportions, materials, and architectural details helped ensure the addition fits naturally with the character of the historic property. The interior remodel focused on improving both function and livability. A larger, updated kitchen creates a more spacious and welcoming gathering area, while a new mudroom provides practical storage and organization. The primary suite was expanded to create a more comfortable private retreat, with additional interior renovations throughout the home improving the flow and functionality of the living spaces. The completed Edmonds home remodel balances historic preservation with modern living.
