Snoqualmie Pass Ski Cabin

Location: Snoqualmie Pass, WA

Design Goals: This ski chalet remodel transforms the lower level into a warm and inviting retreat designed for gathering after a day on the mountain. The renovation includes a custom wet bar and lounge area, a guest bedroom with built-in bunk beds, and a new guest bathroom. New doors and windows strengthen the connection between the interior living spaces and the outdoor patio, creating an easy transition between indoor and outdoor entertaining. A dedicated mudroom and ski tuning room provide practical storage and workspace tailored to this avid ski family. Heated tile floors, integrated boot warmers, and custom millwork keep gear organized, dry, and ready for the next adventure, while durable materials and thoughtful detailing create a space that is both highly functional and welcoming. Additional updates were made throughout the home, including improvements to the kitchen and upper-floor bathrooms. Exterior enhancements included upgraded siding and custom window shutters designed to complement the chalet aesthetic while remaining consistent with the styling requirements of the homeowners association.

Style: Contemporary Midcentury

Design Challenges + Site Constraints: While the project focused primarily on the interior, exterior modifications needed to respect the neighborhood HOA's alpine design guidelines. Updated siding, new window shutters, and other exterior details were carefully integrated to preserve the chalet character while giving the home a refreshed appearance. The mountain environment also played a significant role in the design process. Heavy winter snowfall required careful consideration of exterior circulation, door locations, and patio access to ensure the home remains functional and accessible throughout the ski season.
