Anacortes Custom Home

Location: Anacortes, Washington

Design Goals: Build a custom home maximizing the breathtaking views of Burrows Bay and the Olympic Mountains. The design focuses on creating a home that meets their present needs for space and amenities while also considering future requirements for aging in place. The entry and main living areas are situated on the upper floor to fully capitalize on the panoramic views, offering an open and inviting space for everyday living. The lower floor will be dedicated to a functional Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU), along with a garage, shop, and ample storage space.

Style: Contemporary

Design Challenges + Site Constraints: The steep slope of the lot plays a pivotal role in the home’s design and configuration. To work with the topography, the entry and main living areas are situated on the upper floor, while the lower level accommodates a garage, shop, storage, and a self-contained Accessory Dwelling Unit. Balancing view orientation, circulation, and aging-in-place principles within the site’s constraints has been a key focus in the ongoing design.
