Driftwood Revival

Location: Indianola, WA

Design Goals: Driftwood Revival is a comprehensive whole house remodel of an approximately 3,000 square foot beachfront residence located in Indianola, Washington. Inspired by the raw beauty of the Puget Sound shoreline, this project blends natural textures, warm wood accents, and refined architectural updates to create a serene, modern retreat with timeless character. The vision for the design is rooted in coastal minimalism—emphasizing organic materials, natural light, and clean lines. The interior design evokes a calming, lived-in luxury, where natural materials meet modern craftsmanship. Every space has been thoughtfully reimagined to enhance flow, functionality, and a connection to the home’s waterfront surroundings.

Style: Modern with a coastal influence

Design Challenges + Site Constraints: One of the key challenges in remodeling an existing home lies in navigating the limitations of the original architectural framework. For this project, preserving structural integrity while reimagining the interior required thoughtful design strategies and inventive problem-solving. Selective wall removals, reconfigured circulation, and the introduction of new architectural features helped enhance flow and functionality without compromising the existing structure. Additionally, the close proximity of the structure to the shoreline introduced constraints related to setback regulations and environmental considerations. This necessitated careful site planning and creative architectural solutions to achieve the desired design vision while remaining compliance with environmental guidelines.
