Location: Kirkland, WA
Design Goals: This comprehensive renovation and rear addition reimagined an existing home to better support the homeowners' love of gathering, entertaining, and everyday life. The project included a substantial addition at the rear of the home, as well as a major reconfiguration of the interior spaces to create a more functional and connected living environment. The remodel introduced a new primary suite, renovated bathrooms, and thoughtfully updated kitchen, dining, and sitting areas. A covered outdoor living space further expands the home's entertaining capabilities, providing a comfortable setting for year-round enjoyment. The focus of the design revolved around creating warm, welcoming spaces where family and friends can come together for holidays, dinner parties, game nights, and everyday moments.
Style: Transitional
Design Challenges + Site Constraints: One of the primary design challenges was integrating the large addition with the home's existing rooflines and architectural character. Careful consideration was given to the massing, proportions, and structural configuration of the new construction to create a cohesive appearance while maximizing interior volume and natural light. The project also required creative planning to accommodate an extensive program within the constraints of the existing site.
