Magnolia Tudor
Location: Urban site in the Magnolia neighborhood of Seattle
Design Goals: The interior of all three floors of the home was updated to enhance both functionality and aesthetics. The kitchen was remodeled to optimize storage and improve the overall usability of the space. Additional remodeled areas included all bathrooms, the creation of a new primary suite, a new laundry room, and updates to the basement kitchen and craft area. Throughout the renovation, the design aesthetic was carefully crafted to honor and celebrate the original architecture and the historical character of the home.
Style: Tudor, original 1930’s home
Design Challenges + Site Constraints: The existing kitchen had a very compact footprint, which required the remodeled design to prioritize efficiency and make every inch of space count. On the upper floor, the vaulted ceilings with low knee walls along much of the perimeter posed additional challenges. These height constraints made it difficult to incorporate sufficient closet and storage space and complicated the placement of a new bathroom with adequate ceiling clearance.
