Seattle Transitional Retreat

Location: Seattle, WA

Design Goals: This main floor remodel in Seattle, WA transformes an aging residence into a bright, functional, and inviting home tailored to the homeowners' evolving needs. The renovation focuses on modernizing key living spaces while improving flow, comfort, and connection throughout the home. The main floor is reimagined with a completely renovated kitchen featuring a new layout, updated finishes, and modern fixtures. The removal of an interior wall opened the living spaces, creating a more spacious and connected environment for everyday living and entertaining. The existing bathroom is updated with new finishes and fixtures, while new interior doors and millwork throughout the home provide a cohesive and refined aesthetic. The project also includes a redesign of the home's entry sequence to create a more welcoming arrival experience, along with strategically placed new windows that bring additional natural light into the interior. Beyond the interior improvements, the home received significant exterior and infrastructure upgrades, including new siding and a modernized HVAC system to improve energy efficiency, comfort, and long-term performance.

Style: Transitional

Design Challenges + Site Constraints: A key design challenge was maximizing functionality within the home's existing footprint. The kitchen was expanded and reconfigured without increasing the building area, requiring careful space planning and creative solutions to improve storage, circulation, and usability. The project also included a new porch addition, which was carefully designed around site constraints and critical area requirements that limited the available buildable area.
