Yew Street Renewal
Location: Urban site in the Everett, Washington
Design Goals: This Everett residence is being thoughtfully remodeled to create a brighter, more open, and functional main living level tailored to the homeowners’ everyday needs. The project centers around expanding and reconfiguring the kitchen to improve flow, storage, and connection to adjacent living spaces while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic throughout the home. The interior-only renovation included a complete remodel of the main floor including a home office, powder room, and dedicated laundry space. Light, airy finishes and carefully selected materials were used throughout to enhance natural light and create a calm, welcoming atmosphere reflective of Pacific Northwest living.
Style: Transitional
Design Challenges + Site Constraints: One of the primary challenges of this project was incorporating the homeowners’ desired program within the constraints of the existing footprint. The renovation required careful space planning to accommodate an expanded kitchen, remodeled office, powder room, and new laundry area while maintaining comfortable circulation and an open feel throughout the main floor. Another key design challenge was creating cohesion between spaces with varying ceiling conditions, including both vaulted and flat ceilings. Thoughtful detailing, material continuity, and strategic lighting were used to visually connect the different volumes and create a unified, harmonious interior experience.
